pramod.s Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Hello, I am trying to run Unigine from an virtual machine & I am getting the following error ERROR: Could Not Get Primary Adapter Handle First query is will Unigine run on Virtual Machine (VM). Secondly, in initialization does unigine tries to change the resolution even if its resolution is same as config file Thanks
binstream Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Since UNIGINE uses hardware accelration of graphics, it is not compatible with virtual machines by design.
pramod.s Posted October 9, 2012 Author Posted October 9, 2012 If I enable hardware acceleration on VM, will the UNIGINE work?
ulf.schroeter Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Search the internet for 3D acceleration on virtual machines, there are tons of forum discussions, blogs and how to's ?. At least for VMWare there seems to be hardware acceleration support (e.g http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/virtualization-3d-support-vmware.html ). Nevertheless there are all kinds of limitations and still severe performance issues, so I wouldn't recommend it.
binstream Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 As Ulf mentioned, there could be a lot of limitations. We don't test such scenarios and don't recommend to use them.
pramod.s Posted October 17, 2012 Author Posted October 17, 2012 @binstream & @ulf, thanks for u'r suggestions. I did enabled the 3d accelaration in VM, above error disappeared, but as u people mentioned other issue araised such as GLRender: Unknown GPU error. I will check if these can be solved Note: I am checking these on evaluating purpose, not for production
