It would be nice to have some tool for road (river) creation. At least spline based tool for creating road/river mesh or/and some tool for painting decals directly in editor (https://developer.unigine.com/forum/topic/2265-wontfix-decal-mask-painting/).

 

Of course I wouldnt mind to have something like this: http://docs.cryengine.com/display/SDKDOC2/The+Road+Toolbut generally creation of road meshes is the biggest pain.

 

I know that we can create this outside Unigine proceduraly and for huge terrains it is the only way. On the other side preparing game have always two steps. 1) prepare terrain proceduraly (usually few weeks of work), 2) finetune/add details by hand (usually several years of work and here productivity is everything). I am now facing problem, that level designers does not have skills to use external tools like 3dsmax, various road creators, worldmachine, l3dt, etc and it is very ineffective to communicate their ideas to people who have, because it is still an idea and it is usually 5x changed until they are happy with result.  They usually need to make several short roads in city/forest/vllage, not road around whole contient. Currently they prefere to paint roads directly on terrain, beacuse it is user friendly. From my point of view it is pitty, they are wasting terrain texture slots and via decal they could achieve much better visual quality (parrax mapping). So it makes sense to have tools in engine to be able to work on such details without dependency on external tools, which are more suitable for large areas.
