Paul.Brodin Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Can anyone point the way to making a billboard fade in and out (probably using a track) There must be a simple way of doing this, but ive been through the majority of track options and cant find a way of fading the billboard in and out. I was expecting to be able to vary the transparancy of the the material, but that doesnt seem to be an option. I also looked at distances at which an object becomes solid/transparent, which works if just manually tweaking the numbers in the node editor, but i cant find a paramater in the track editor to adjust that particular setting.
unclebob Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Hey Paul! You need to setup billboard material properly: 1) Make sure you set ambient pass to "Transparent" in "States" tab; 2) In "Common" tab set blending to src alpha, one minus src alpha After that you can drag alpha of diffuse color to simulate fade effect.
Paul.Brodin Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 Hi Bob, Almost perfect! that gives us the control in fading that we need, but is producing a weird effect when the object is shown against the sky - see attachment. even with the alpha set to 255 - the object becomes transparent against the skyline, but solid when there is terrain behind the object
