Dear customers,

 
We would like to share our plans on future releases, but please keep in mind that you should not fully rely on the roadmap nor make any business decision based on it.

UNIGINE 2.20  (Upcoming, July 7, 2025)

Engine 

  • Multiple Optimizations

    • Multithreaded shadows rendering on DirectX 12 (2-3x performance boost on the CPU side)
    • Streaming optimizations
    • Optimized RAM consumption for Particles, Billboards, Ffp, and Visualizer
    • Saving clusters in binary format (world loading speedup comprises 15-20% in real projects, with a 3x boost in world saving operations, while synthetic tests show up to 4x loading, and 16x saving boost).
    • Optimized Omni and Projected lights (25% improvement in synthetic tests, up to 16% on real scenes)
  • Improved Upscalers and Vulkan support

    • FSR Windows Vulkan
    • DLSS Vulkan support (Windows & Linux)
    • FSR Update 3.1.1
    • DLSS updated to the latest version
  • File System Improvements:

    • Creating mounts from the API (without creating a file)
    • Support for absolute paths for adding virtual files via addVirtualFile()
    • Support for long paths in the API
  • VR/XR Improvements

    • XR/MR + Oculus 3
    • Eye separation
  • C# Improvements 

    • Support for abstract classes
    • Support for partial classes
    • Ability to create CS files from the Editor
    • Ability to add components to nodes by class names via AddComponent()
  • Streaming improvements for password-protected and compressed UNG
  • Gaussian splatting import (experimental)
  • Added VSync interval support for DirectX 12
  • Sharpen effect improvements for thin objects
  • Multiple Widget improvements

Editor 

  • Search in the Editor:

    • In the Parameters window
    • In various menus
  • Improved UI for physical shapes and joints
  • Axis visualization in Animation preview
  • Auto-save for editor layout
  • Material graph multiple improvements
  • Optimized Properties UI (up to 4 times faster on large properties with many parameters)

Samples & Templates

  • Multiple C++ and C# samples
  • Reorganized samples in SDK Browser:

    • Search and filtering to find samples quickly
    • Revamped UI

SpiderVision & IG

  • Ability to disable viewports in SpiderVision

Sandworm

  • More stable operation with a number of minor improvements

directx 12?

 

We have been experimenting with DirectX 12 from the beginning of this year, but for now we see no major advantages of it in the scope of the current engine architecture.

can you provide any information about what the water improvements mentioned in the release plan will look like?

Will we get more than 4 overlapping waves for ObjectWater?

I can't give any specific details right now because the water object / material are still in the research phase (so the improved version will likely be postponed until 2.1).

The team is heading towards 2.0 release next week.

The technology core is already stable, finalizing migration scripts for smooth upgrade of projects.

Also working on samples and documentation now.

Are you able to elaborate on "Performance optimizations"?  Why are they listed in 2.1 and not 2.0?  Surely the 2.0 release must have some sort of improvements over previous versions right? 

 

You have some impressive figures for the Unigine 2.0 editor speed-ups but what about at runtime?  Will we see the same level of enhancements?

2.0 features deferred rendering by default (instead of old forward one), it provides a very nice performance boost on most of the scenes.

But there is still some room for even further performance optimization, which we plan to focus on in 2.1 release.

 

The performance boost is both for the editor and runtime.

Almost there. Still working on migration tools for UNIGINE 1 users and polishing the engine improvements.

 

Frankly speaking this week was too optimistic - some more days needed, sorry. But I guess it worth double-checking before rolling out the large release.

The release notes are VERY long and filled with a lot of nice changes.

SDK is built, uploading. ETA is 4-8 hours for both mirrors.

Also what about the ISS space demo scene ? The pictures look excellent, both rendering and mmodelling-wise ! Will this demo be available to customers ?

Ulf, yes - we do plan to release ISS demo publicly; UNIGINE 2.0 was the main priority though. Can't state the exact ETA, but the idea is to publish the demo in 1-2 months for wide audience.

No, it is planned to release it a month past 2.0 - so early November. The schedule is updated.
