jim.bourke Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Attached is a screenshot of a rendered frame with both motion blur and TAA enabled. Disregard bad polys on the aircraft model. It's just a placeholder. I already have a separate thread on the motion blur but wanted to point out two artifacts with TAA: 1. There is a fringe effect at the intersection of objects and the sky. Note the tops of the trees. 2. This is a bit hard to see in the screenshot but apparent in full motion: there are several blurred images of the aircraft following it. You can see these as red streaks trailing below and to the left of the aircraft in the image. The image was taken in a scene providing roughly 60 fps. The camera is tracking behind the aircraft in this image. Are these expected results? Anything that can be done to improve the effect? Jim
silent Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Hi Jim, What SDK version are you currently using (from which SDK version these screenshot was made)? Could you please also check if render_motion_blur_quality is set to 1 in console? Thanks! dred Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 we are currently on sdk version 2.0 we did not upgrade to 2.1 yet and are waiting for 2.2 before we do our next engine update.
silent Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Hi Dred, TAA and motion blur effects were slightly improved from 2.0 to 2.1.1 engine version. More likely you will have different results if you will upgrade your project. How do you think - is it possible to upgrade project just to check the difference in TAA and motion blur work? Also, SSAO algorithm was reworked in the previous SDK releases to avoid ghosting on fast objects moving. Thanks!
