Anisotropic shading

This page refers to the anisotropic reflection model and shading. The Materials File Format page also makes reference to it as a choice among state options. After a deep investigation into your default material and shader files, I've come to the conclusion that anisotropic shading was once supported but is no longer so. I see the s_material_anisotropy parameter and ANISOTROPIC define used in 2.0, but not in 2.2.1. The parameter is defined but unused in 2.2.1; the define isn't used at all in any material or shader.

Am I correct in that this is deprecated behavior? Or is there still a way to enable the anisotropic lighting without writing my own custom shader?

Hi Justin,

Anisotropic reflections and lightning are not supported anymore (and we have no plans to add them in the future SDK updates). We will update documentation ASAP.

You have to write your own shader to simulate this effect.

Thanks!
