Decal Water transparency and Diffuse color

Hello.

 

It seems, that the diffuse color of the material for a Water decal is influencing the ttransparency (visiblity) of the decal.

 

White is opaque, black transparent, no matter which alpha blend is set to.

Is this a desired behavior?

 

In fact I cant create anything dark ;)

I'm afraid, it's a bug with water decal. We've added this problem to our internal bug tracker.

Hey. Thx for the answer. Can I hack something in a shader or material for now to start designing my scene or is it more deeper?

It's hard to say, our devs didn't have time to check this issue yet. That behavior is continues from 2.4.1, so there might be some things broken for quite long time :)

Would be good, if there is some way around for me for now as I want to use the water decal.

Otherwise I should wait for a fix?

Actually, it's a not bug cause the water decal was originally made with an additive color mixing only.
Our devs will improve this in the future releases but this task does not have the highest priority.

hey,

 

I guess that comes from the 'foam' approach.

 

In a way the decal makes sense, if it has the possibility for all the blending options.

otherwise its not possible to create e.g. objects floating on the water which are not transparent like leaves, searoses, debris etc.
