yea as in

i just noticed i edit the whole thing, it compiles (i can only select "development" the select box is inactive) it runs just fine , all offline after one-time activation when booting up and immediate disconnection (i abhorr working on an online pc) , then i close the editor and try to run the compiled program and i get that same error saying "get a real license"

??!?

does that mean i cant run anything on any other pc but the one that runs the sdk/browser unless i fork out 150 a month or more ?

its 2022 btw ... i LOVE the engine but that would make it completely useless to me, thanks in advance (also if i choose upgrade project to 2.15 the whole thing breaks and i get real weird errors that look like a crypto-wallet hash ... but thats not really a problem)

can i run executables without having the sdk installed on a pc , can i distribute those or do i have to have a working distribution first to pay $150 a month to get a working distribution to distribute ?

thanks in advance really, it would be a shame and if its like that i would urge you to re-consider the options and the competition in 2022, thanks

J

owh maybe i should disclaim lol : i have no need to try and blackmail you into changing your business model if thats how it sounds, i wouldnt lose too much b/C due to the lack of export options for maps i basically did all height, albedo and mask maps by-the-pixel in gimp and i have nothing but terrain yet , i was just wondering if maybe i was missing some option somewhere, it seems really strange to have a "free" engine that lets you put months of work into something which you can then not run on any other pc than the one the sdk is on - thats almost trapware lol , i see its been a year since there was action on this feed so i hope you're still on it - unreal is linux unfriendly , unity would lack detail for the size and the others are a bit harder to get into or worth even less than the simple ones but its mainly a hobby with option to see what comes of it so i certainly wont be paying up front for something that will very likely not sell out - that said , no hard feelings ofcourse , i can always churn out nice youtube videos hahah

maybe i just missed something

anyway, i stand disclaimed in case of misunderstanding and hope you'll still answer this one , thanks

Even with free community version you can publish your project without licensing. Normally, when you do a final build you can switch between Release and Development configurations.

Is that C++ or C# project? Can you show us couple of screenshots where you can only see the Development build available?

Thanks!

yea, thanks for the amazing fast answer - i just came here to correct myself - i cant say i really know what was going on but "the windows way" worked - we just re-installed the whole SDK and browser and now the project can select development/release - the launcher on CLI runs without asking to boot the browser and so does the build-version launched from its folder

its C++ but theres no code yet (other than whats in the modules you people created i suppose)

i wish i could say and pinpoint what it was it might help for later but honestly , no clue - glad it works though and apologies for the misunderstanding if you did.  (the box just was greyed out and stuck on development before yesterday , honestly no idea)

thanks for the fast repy definitely !!!! have a nice day
