hedkaoz Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Hi, I'm having problems with the Decal Ortho node for water. As you can see in the video, it creates two projections of my decal: the original and the one distorted by the water (Even in the Art Samples). Additionally, I have a problem with the images because it changes their original color. I saw a tutorial, but it seems to be from many older versions because the options no longer exist ( Normal Substitute). I hope you can help me, please. My intention is to keep only one of the projections, preferably the distorted one. Thank you. Decal_Problem.mp4
bmyagkov Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Hello, The secondary projection is caused by the "Decals Distortion" feature available in the ObjectWaterGlobal parameters tab. To reduce or eliminate this effect, you can set its value to zero. Thank you.
hedkaoz Posted March 31 Author Posted March 31 ohh ok thanks!, but my intention was to keep the distortion, not the original image on the decal. Is that no longer possible? You could watch this video of yours at 7:47; there you use an option to remove the original image and leave only the distortion.

The tutorial you’re referring to was recorded quite a few years ago using SDK version 2.7 and a lot has evolved since then—both on the decals side and in the ObjectWaterGlobal object. The decal material workflow has also been moved to the Material Graph as the default editing approach. That said, it is still possible to restore the previous behavior. You can do this by using the legacy decal_water material along with the modified shader provided in the attached archive. To apply it, simply extract the archive contents into your project’s /data directory. The files inside the core folder will override the default shaders located in the /data/core.ung archive, enabling the distortion-only effect you’re looking for. For a more visual explanation, please check the video included with this message. Thank you! 2026-04-01 15-24-50.mp4 data.zip
