VR Binocular Mask with adjustable diameter in UNIGINE 2.19 (Varjo XR-4)

Hello,

I am using UNIGINE 2.19 with a Varjo XR-4. I need to create a VR binocular/scope mask effect and modify its diameter.

Due to strict project deadlines, I cannot migrate to 2.21 (where I know the newer commands exist).

What is the exact, working solution to achieve this in 2.19 for VR?

Thank you !

Hello,

Thank you for the message. Before going further, we'd like to point you to a thread from about a year ago where a similar question was already raised by your team — it may already contain useful background for your case: https://forum.unigine.com/topic/9440-vr-attachtohead/

In short, there are render_stereo_hidden_area and render_stereo_hidden_area_transform commands available to simulate a disc aperture (e.g., to mimic binoculars).

The known limitation in SDK 2.19 is that foveated rendering is not supported when working with these commands. That said, it seems you might be able to get this to work — with some limitations — by enabling "Simple Rendering" in the Varjo Base settings which disables the focus display.

Thanks!
